Summer Adventures in Gudauri: Top Activities and Attractions

The summer season has finally opened its doors in Gudauri. With that, we want to showcase a list of summer adventures in Gudauri for you to choose from when planning your trip here.

First and foremost, the view from the top of the mountains is a must. The gondola is opening from this Sunday July 6th to go all the way up (expect windy conditions as you will be go as high as 2200m to 2900m in altitude) and here are some of the details worth noting:

• The lifts from Goodaura (New Gudauri), Kobi, Firni and Truso will operate daily from 11AM until 5PM.

• Tickets can be booked directly at the Gondola ticket office, with options ranging from single trips to 10-day passes.

• A one-way Gondola ride costs 10 GEL for adults and 5 GEL for children

• A round-trip to Kobi via Gondola is 30 GEL for adults and 20 GEL for children

Hiking

We will have a whole post about potential trails you can take very soon, but in the meantime you can message us directly to learn more and we will be happy to help! Gudauri itself is one big hiking destination starting by taking the gondola up and exploring the mountains that only a few months ago were covered in snow. For the more adventurous ones, you can decide to trek up to the top of Kobi or take the gondola up and walk down.

Paragliding

For those of you that want the biggest thrill, paragliding in Gudauri is a year-round activity from taking off in the winter months on top of the ski slope, or in the summer soaking in the greenery. This activity is weather dependent so you will need to be mindful of that when booking this.

All of the companies have a fixed price and will let you know on the day from where you will be flying from. Flight time is usually between 10-20 minutes and you will be able to see across the valley. Recommended for those who don't have a fear of heights, and once you are up there, the view is beautiful and calming.

Jeep and Quad Bike Excursions

Jeep tours are another way to take in the extent of the surrounding area and learn about different sites from your tour guide. Tours typically range from half-day to full-day excursions and some can even last multiple days.

We work closely with one of the jeep tour companies that operates 2 minutes away from Chalet Papa Basili. They have English and Russian speaking guides who have often grown up in or around Gudauri so they know the area well. Depending on the duration of the tour, you will go all the way to Kazbegi and/or Ananuri. We can help you arrange the best trip to fit your schedule.

If you want to experience the thrill of driving off-road yourself, then you can book a quad bike where you will tour through the mountains and stop at historical sites and viewpoints. You will told what to expect when it comes to safety and we recommend warm clothing as you go up. Quad tours can also accommodate for individuals and groups.

Gudauri Panoramic View and Day Trips

A short drive from Gudauri is the Panoramic View where the most beautiful time to go is when the sun is setting or right after rain as you can see from the photo below. There are also day trips that can be taken and we will be sharing more details about them in future posts so stay tuned!
